It has been decided that the ban placed on extremist group Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) will be reviewed by the government and the Interior Ministry will form a three-member committee for the purpose.
Geo reported that a high-level meeting chaired by Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed discussed the TLP ban, during which the request submitted by the banned outfit against the ban also came under discussion.
The interior minister decided to constitute a three-member committee which would review the ban. The body would include two joint secretaries as well.
Earlier this month, the TLP was declared a proscribed outfit by the government after its workers and supporters held violent protests across the country against the outfit's chief Saad Rizvi's arrest. Almost a week later, the government held talks with the group after which an agreement was signed with the government accepting most of the demands put forth by the group.
