Cow vigilantes in India have gone out of control. While there have been numerous instances of them lynching people over cow slaughter, this time around, it is a cop from Bulandshahr who lost his life to extremism.
According to reports from Indian media, a furious Hindu group marched towards a police station in Uttar Pradesh after remains of a cow were found from a forest. The protesters pelted stones at police officers and fired gunshots. Amidst the chaos, inspector Subodh Kumar Singh was struck with a sharp object and later succumbed to his wounds.
Subodh’s driver said that he was rushing to rescue the wounded inspector but just as he put Singh in the jeep to drive off for medical attention, protestors started throwing stones at the vehicle and fired bullets.
Senior police officer Pravin Kumar said on Tuesday that a case was filed against 28 people, Dawn News reported. The cops have also arrested 4 people and are looking for the main suspect, Yogesh Raj.

The current Bharatia Janata Party (BJP) government is failing to uphold India’s image as a secular democracy and if timely measures are not guaranteed, things might get worse.
We truly hope not.
