The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has allocated Rs1 billion for its political campaign in Punjab from the NA-127 constituency, where party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will contest the election.
While speaking at a program on Naya Daur TV, senior analyst Muzamal Suharwardy said that the PPP is also holding talks through the back channel with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to not launch its candidate from the above-mentioned constituency so that a one-to-one competition could be held between Bilawal and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
While responding to a question, the analyst said that there is no chance that the PTI could re-attain its election symbol, ‘bat’.
To another question, Suharwardy said that Justice (retired) Javed Iqbal has been heading the Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances since 2011, but he is not giving any output; therefore, he should return all the salaries he has withdrawn so far and the case should be filed against him in the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). He termed the Justice (retired) Javed Iqbal a burden on the national exchequer.
The analyst said that the judiciary should come to a position to sentence terrorists so that the issue of missing persons can be resolved.
