The Lahore High Court Bar Association has requested the Punjab government to direct the police and law enforcement authorities to take action against Ahmadis who perform animal sacrifices on Eid, saying that the ritual was in violation of Section 298-B and 1973 constitution.

In a letter written to Punjab's Ministry of Interior [home department], the LHCBA president said that qurbani being a 'sunnat' of Hazrat Ibrahim and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) has been 'exclusively' performed by Muslims.
According to the letter, the constitution and relevant provisions of the penal code and the binding judgements of the Supreme Court clearly prohibited the Ahmadis of any 'shaair-Islami'.
It claimed that every Eid, the Ahmadi community allegedly 'openly 'violate the provision of the constitution, which necessitates the taking of strict, iron-handed, preventive action'.
It requested the home ministry to issue directives to all police officers to take preventive measures in this regard, clearly mentioning that in case of non-compliance stern action shall be initiated against the concerned officials.
