The Judicial inquiry report in murder and alleged rape of 10-year-old Farishta has found that police officers misbehaved with Farishta's parents.
The report has been sent to Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, and it recommends strict action against the station house officer, investigation officer, and other police officials.
The judicial probe, conducted by additional deputy commissioner general (ADCG) Wasim Ahmed, said that police misbehaved with the family members of Farishta when they came to file a complaint of their missing daughter.
There were also reports that the staff at the hospital refused to carry out a post-mortem examination of the deceased. According to the inquiry report, however, the medico-legal officer at the hospital was not responsible for the delay in the results of the postmortem as "there is no such officer appointed at the hospital during the night hours".
On May 22, a case has been registered against Station House Officer (SHO) Shahzad Town Sub Inspector Muhammad Abbas Rana and other policemen over negligence in Farishta rape and murder case.
According to reports, the family of the victim had gone to the police station to register report of their missing daughter, but the SHO refused to file the complaint saying that the girl might have ‘eloped’.
Police on Thursday said that Farishta's DNA report revealed that she was not raped, but an attempt was made. Farishta resisted after which the suspect attacked her with a sharp object. She did due to excessive bleeding.
