The list of the pilots possessing 'dubious' licenses that the Civil Aviation Department (CAA) has submitted to PIA is replete with errors, days after Federal Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan said the government has asked airlines to ground 262 pilots until an investigation into their qualifications is completed.
The list contains names of 39 pilots who are no more associated with the national flag carrier, while some of them have died and others have retired, Geo News reported.
Similarly, basic credentials of 36 pilots, including the name, employee number and CAA reference number are incorrect. The report termed 9 examination papers of three pilots for Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) as dubious, while there are a total of eight papers for the licensing.
The report also termed dubious the ATPL papers of the pilots who have yet to take the said exam. The list contains names of four pilots who have been authenticated by the high court. It also cast shadows on the 30-year old commercial license of Capt Farrukh Mirza while, at that time, the said exam process did not even exist.
The list even includes the names of two pilots who lost their lives in an ATR plane crash four years ago.
On Saturday, a spokesperson of the national flag carrier said the airline had approached foreign missions and world regulatory bodies, informing it has grounded all 141 pilots who were believed to carrying dubious licenses, such as those obtained through unfair means.
