Former head of the Panama Papers Case joint investigation team, Wajid Zia, has been appointed as the new director general of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
A news report in Dawn cited a notification issued by the Establishment Division as saying that Zia, who is currently serving as the inspector general of the Pakistan Railways Police, had been transferred and posted as DG FIA.
Zia was previously the FIA additional director general (immigration), and has also served in the Intelligence Bureau.
The government officer was also part of the team that investigated the Haj scam, and has also been part of the Economic Crimes Wing of the FIA.
