Karachi

A mob in Karachi lynched one person and injured another for suspected robbery on Sunday night.

Officials told media that three suspects were engaged in snatching cash and valuables from a citizen in Korangi-4. Two of the robbers were caught by people of the area who subjected them to a severe beating.

Police arrived on the scene and shifted both of them to the Jinnah Post-Graduate Medical Centre.

The executive director of the hospital told media that one of the robbers was pronounced dead on arrival while the other was admitted to the hospital.

The deceased has been identified as 30-year-old Awais Akhtar. The other suspect, who is under treatment, has been identified as 20-year-old Muhammad Nayman.

The third subject managed to escape. The incident is a reflection of the lack of trust on part of civilians for the law enforcement agencies, which was why they decided to take matters in their own hands.
