The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has distanced itself from Minister for Narcotics Control Shehryar Afridi, according to a tweet by Geo News Urdu.
The minister had previously been extremely vocal against Rana Sanaullah’s involvement in the drug possession case. He had sworn multiple times that he had the evidence to get the PML-N politician indicted for possession of 12 kilograms of heroin.
The Lahore High Court released Rana Sanaullah on bail citing that there was not enough evidence in the case. The court also said that the case was an example of political victimization in the country.
As a result, people on social media bashed the minister over not producing the evidence that he claimed he had for the case. The ANF as result distanced themselves from the politician.
