Police constable, identified as Masoom Ali, shot dead a teenager Sami-ur-Rehman, when he resisted the rape attempt of the policeman in Punjab’s district Kasur on Sunday.
The local police officials acted promptly and arrested their colleague Masoom Ali for murdering a teenager after a failed rape attempt. First Information Report (FIR) has also been registered against the policeman.
Punjab Law Minister Raja Basharat Ali has taken the notice of the said incident and has asked District Police Officer (DPO) Kasur Zahid Marwat to submit a detailed report. The provincial minister directed the police officials to facilitate the victim’s family and ensure that they are served justice.
Social media activists have initiated an online campaign on Twitter in this regard using the hashtag #JusticeforSamiUrRehman.
"Sami, who recited holy Quran in Taraweeh this year, was killed by the constable on Eid due to unwillingness to do bad deeds. Special legislation should be enacted for all the criminals involved in this act, including the police,” said an activist.
