Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided to conduct re-polling for Daska NA-75 constituency on March 19, after investigating claims of rigging. The results of the by-poll have been cancelled.
ECP had preciously conducted a thorough investigation into the disappearance of presiding officers at Daska polling stations. 17 out of 20 missing presiding officers were interrogated while the latter 3 have not presented themselves before the committee yet. All 17 officers were not able to give a valid reason for their disappearance soon after the end of election process.
During the hearing, which was headed by five member bench including Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lawyer has said that this involves the entire constituency and that Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Zulfiqar Virk has yet to be removed from his post.
