Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazari has condemned the remarks of Maulana Tariq Jameel during the recent live telethon, terming 'immodest women' a cause for coronavirus. She tweeted that it was 'absurd' of Maulana to blame women for causing the pandemic and it was 'absolutely unacceptable' of him to do so on national television.
She further said that the government of Pakistan will not accept the targeting of women or moral policing specially when the constitution has safeguarded the rights of women in Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, also seemed to echo with Shireen Mazari by sharing her tweet saying 'Deen e Mullah Fasad Fe Sabil illah....'.

This statement was in response to his speech on a pre-Ramzan live telethon, in which he blamed ‘immodest women’ for causing coronavirus pandemic in Pakistan. He said that ‘behaya‘ (immodest) women are a national issue and curing the nation of immodesty might lead to a better tomorrow.
People on twitter have also been calling him out for the blatant sexism and objectification of women he has been indulging in for years. A lot of young people have claimed that they used to respect him but now, that won’t happen anymore, because of his hate speech against women at every occasion.
