Balochistan Chief Secretary Capt (r) Fazeel Asghar lied about returning the Rs3.3 million bonus that he had awarded himself for 'additional work' for the fiscal budget, it emerged on Friday.
A payslip of the bureaucrat available with Naya Daur shows that the civil servant availed the bonus amount.
Asghar had faced backlash after a journalist had revealed that the chief secretary rewarded himself over Rs3mln in bonus, even though he did nothing to deserve that. Asghar had claimed to return the bonus that he had awarded to himself for the ‘additional work’ during the preparation of the fiscal budget. A notification was also issued in this regard.
Bayzeed Kharoti, journalist and social media activist, had served a legal notice to the secretary the other day, saying the total bonus cash withdrawn illegally from the national exchequer in terms of the fiscal year budget stood at 2,40,00,000.
He had maintained that the 'drivers, gardeners, and scavengers of your office, who had no concern with the budget affairs, [were] additionally unlawfully remunerated in millions. The act wasn’t only against the law, but it is also equal to misfeasance during the conduct of your office'.
