PTI Leader Calls Out Tariq Jameel For Blaming ‘Immodest Women’ For Coronavirus
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmaker Maleeka Bokhari has called out religious preacher Maulana Tariq Jameel for his statement blaming ‘immodest’ women for the coronavirus outbreak.

The PTI leader took to Twitter and said that women’s morality should never and ‘under no circumstances’ be linked to the global pandemic. “It is danger to make this correlation as violent crimes against women/girls continue to take place with impunity,” she added.

Maleeka Bokhari said that further ‘ostracization’ can create difficulties for women and it would make their lives more complex.

On Thursday, Maulana Tariq Jameel during a pre-Ramzan live telethon blamed ‘immodest women’ for causing coronavirus pandemic in Pakistan. He said that ‘behaya‘ (immodest) women are a national issue and curing the nation of immodesty might lead to a better tomorrow.

Earlier, the preacher and Islamic scholar gave a sermon in the mosque, openly objectifying and sexualising women to an audience of hundreds of men. While explaining the concept of hoors in Islam, he says that the men who enter paradise will be greeted by 70 virgin women, hoors, who will be there to serve them as a reward from Allah.

Twitter users are appreciating the PTI lawmaker for taking a stand and criticising Tairq Jameel for his indecent remarks on national television.
