The Sindh government has announced a five percent quota of employment for members of the transgender community in all government departments.
The news was shared by the adviser on information to the Sindh chief minister, Senator Murtaza Wahab, in a post on Twitter.
The senator stated on Twitter that the Sindh cabinet had made a decision to fix five percent of jobs in government departments for transgenders.

In response, the senator stated that no recruitments had taken place since the announcement of the quota for persons with disabilities.
According to reports in media, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, has said that he desired to bring transgender people into the mainstream.
The chief minister had also stated that transgender people were neglected and ignored in society and that a reasonable quota for their recruitment should be fixed in government departments, including the police.
Murad Ali Shah had also directed the provincial chief secretary to prepare for the cabinet a working paper in order to allocate jobs for transgender people. He also called NGOs and organisations working for transgender rights to educate them and bring them in government service.
Moreover, Sindh Inspector General of Police Syed Kaleem Imam had announced to hire transgender people in the force. He added, “We will make them part of Sindh police. They are good God-gifted people. Citizens like us. We should stand by them.”
