Minister Fawad Chaudhry Refutes Mufti Muneeb’s Announcement On Eid Moon
Federal Minister for Science and Tenhnology Fawad Chaudhry has refuted Chairman Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman's recent announcement on upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, saying that the moon of Zilhaj 1441 Hijri was born on Tuesday and it was the second-day moon that was visible in Pakistan on Wednesday.

The minister during an interview to journalist Shahzaib Khanzada on his show, said, “We have to choose one option: either a religious interpretation with no logic and rationality or a Pakistan that Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah wanted, and he didn’t envision a conservative Pakistan at all.”

Earlier on Wednesday, Fawad Chaudhry posted a picture of the crescent on his Twitter handle and asked the people to decide themselves. “Does the moon stay in the sky for so long after the sun sets? Let the people decide for themselves.”

In another interview to journalist Kamran Khan on his show, the minister said that the Zilhaj moon was not visible on Tuesday due to the clouds. “If there are clouds, how will the moon be visible?” he inquired.

He further said that the country’s Islamic scholars first need to decide that either technology is ‘halal’ or ‘haram’. “Prayers can be offered by looking at the clock, then why the moon cannot be sighted by technology,” he added.
