The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has stated that the son-in-law of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Captain (r) Mohammad Safdar was arrested by Punjab police on Monday night.
According to the spokesperson of the party, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Safdar was arrested on charges of hate speech.
Captain (r) Safdar was arrested on his return to Lahore from Bhera. The arrest was made in light of the case registered against him on October 11 for speaking against state institutions.
While talking to media, Marriyum Aurangzeb condemned the ‘fascist government’ of Imran Khan for stooping low to suppress the opposition. She stated that the government was losing its nerves as the Azadi March drew near.
The son-in-law of the former PM was earlier booked in August for attacking police officials in the accountability court before PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz was to make an appearance.
