Today as I read through the horrific news of teenage boys raping a kitten, cold shudders went through my spine.
It was such an intense level of severe brutality that I couldn’t even begin to fathom and process it. I felt sick to my stomach and almost felt like throwing up. Lately, I have seen animal brutality shared through social media as well as through ACF, Ayesha Chundrigar Foundation (in Karachi) that runs a very effective and efficient animal rescue shelter and rehabilitation center and is working towards creating awareness against animal brutality.
In this particular incident, the poor kitten that was gang-raped repeatedly for almost a week succumbed to the assault and died. In our country that’s plagued with human rights violations against children, women, and minorities, obviously, one can imagine that where and when would we think and consider about animal rights. It burns me to think about this level of insane brutality.
Currently, we have no laws that protect animal rights and would penalize any kind of assault to their bodies.
If we dig deeper into this incident, very disturbing layers come to the surface. Firstly, what insane sexual urge rages through these underage boys that propel them to forget basic humanity and turns them into sexual predators? Secondly, as we all know, more than sexual appetite, rape is driven by control and power. So these underage boys gang up on a defenseless, poor kitten and assault it until it dies.
Furthermore, their sickness doesn’t end here. They recorded the rape for their sadistic pleasure as well. One can clearly predict that if some serious action is not taken against these boys, they will most definitely turn into flesh-eating rapists, or a better word, savages.
In order to save these boys as they are underage, they must get some psychiatric evaluation and treatment. What went through their heads when they decided to flush out humanity out of their systems and became animals themselves. This level of brutality requires some deeper psychiatric investigation as well as a jail term. I don’t care if they are underage. They must be arrested and put behind juvenile bars. This savagery must not go unnoticed.
Thirdly, are the boys’ hormones raging through their systems because of pornographic materials easily accessible to them? Are they so out of control that they would just rape anything with a hole? What kind of basic ethics, morals, or humanity are we not teaching to these boys? Should the parents give them their internal privacy to masturbate more often so that their sexual urges are satisfied without harming any living object?
The parents must come forward and collaborate with the teachers, doctors, psychiatrists, police, and animal rights and human rights activists to investigate what’s going on in their heads. Shouldn’t the schools include sex education as a part of their curriculum, teaching them the dos and don’ts of having sex?
