‘Everything Is Achievable’: A Conversation With Omar Qazi
John (industry name) Omar Qazi, or Omar Javeed Qazi, is a Pakistani actor with French-Mongolian ancestry who was brought up in Lahore (Pakistan) by father Dr Qazi Javed Iqbal and mother Gulrukh Javed. Omer Qazi is known for his incredible style and great looks. He completed his initial education from Aitchison College, Lahore, and completed his bachelor’s and master’s degree from an internationally recognized university in Lahore.
He was just thirteen when he started gym and demonstrated extraordinary interest in Martial Arts alongside horse-riding and dance. He ventured into the Pakistani showbiz industry at a very young age.
Initially, he took it up only as a hobby while concentrating more on his degree until Qaiser Ali Shah and Tariq Ismail Sagar cast him for the role of Arif in Grift, the TV adaptation of the novel Dehshatgard. It was this role that convinced him to pursue acting as a full-time profession. During that period, Syed Noor cast him in his film Sapne Apne, followed up by Dakait, which ended up being a huge hit on the box office.
We had a brief discussion with Omar Qazi on his upcoming projects and here is what he had to say.
‘’Work Hard is the key to success, Hard work defines you. There is no shortcut in life, you must climb every step of life to reach to the top’’ says Omer Qazi
What describes you?
I am generally very loving and caring but reserved with people I do not know. I take time to understand and develop a bond with people. No doubt I am an easy-going person, but I take time to get comfortable.
One storyline you wished you be part of?
The scent of a Woman is one script I wished I were a part of.
What are your take on the new faces and younger generation working with senior actors?
They are doing a good job, although they don’t have those senior PTV producers or that environment to train around anymore. Media boom is the right word to describe the current situation of media. I can see passionate young people coming into our industry and they are quite confident and want to learn from their co-stars.
Which actor and actresses would you like to work with?
I would love to work with one of my favorite co-stars actor Noman Ejaz, and among women, it would be Sana Javed.
Apart from the media industry and lifestyle, what keeps you busy?
I like to swim, listen to music and jog. I think these three components are very important and essential to keep yourself healthy. I am very possessive and keen about my health. I like to eat clean and am very restricted to my dietary habits.
What are your favorite pastimes?
I like to hang out with friends when I am not working. I think it is very important to have an escape from your busy schedule and deadlines.
How would you react to criticism? Do you learn from it or ignore it?
I try to learn from criticism. I prefer healthy criticism since it is very important. You get to learn a lot and that makes you a better person too.
What traits you would prefer in your life partner?
I cannot say that. It is just natural. I like intelligent conversations though. My preference is a bit different I like brainy and progressive people, who are possessive and concerned about their goals. To sum it up in one word, I would prefer a goal-oriented and focused life partner.
What is your style? Casual? Trendy or Formal?
Depends upon my mood, but mostly casual.
Which is your favorite movie?
Interview with a Vampire.
Tell us about your favorite cuisines and the color you love?
Thai, Japanese, continental, I like desi too. I get bored with the same routine, so I try new cuisines and restaurants. As far as my favorite color is concerned, I like Blue since I associate the blue color with depth and stability.
Three things you can’t live without
For me, my life cycle revolves around three main components: fame, money, socializing.
What things have you learned about life and the human condition from being a celebrity?
Anything is achievable if you put your mind to it, and it is better to find your self rather than remaining in a temporary phase of fame.
