ISI To Get 45 Acres Of Land In Islamabad For Its Directorate, ECC Decides

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Federal Cabinet has approved the allotment of 45 acres of land in Islamabad to the the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

"Allotment of 45 acres land at Jagiot farm, Islamabad to Directorate General ISI," read the agenda of the ECC meeting prior to the approval today.

Just last month, the ECC approved a ‘supplementary grant’ worth Rs1.66 billion to ‘upgrade’ a Special Telecom Monitoring Project at the ISI directorate, according to a press release by the Press Information Department (PID). The statement had also said that the ECC set aside up to Rs 500 million for a Special Education School to be constructed at the Defence Complex in Islamabad. According to it, the proposals for the ‘technical supplementary grants’ had been moved by the defence division.

The ISI is the premier intelligence agency of Pakistan, operationally responsible for gathering, processing and analysing national security information from around the world. It is currently headed by General Faiz Hameed.
