More than two dozen Pakistanis are currently stranded in India amid the coronavirus pandemic. The two countries closed their borders in the mid of March over the prevailing situation following the outbreak.
Express Tribune reported the plight of these 26 Pakistan. The stranded Pakistanis are facing a host of problems as they have run out of cash. They are also unsure about their accommodation.
According to the report, they include Pakistani Hindus and Sikhs who were on a visit to India on a SAARC visa.
The report quoted them as saying that five other Pakistanis, who were in India on medical visas, were facilitated out of India and returned to the country through the Attari-Wagah border crossing. But their their names were not on the list of citizens sent by the Pakistani authorities to the Indian government.
One of them told the newspaper that he was stuck in Gurdaspur as Indian Punjab is under a complete lockdown. He expressed the hope that India and Pakistan will reopen the Wagah border for them so they can return to their country.
