The cost of N-95 masks – surgical mask to prevent coronavirus, has surged by more than 1,000 percent, a day after two cases of novel coronavirus were reported in Pakistan.

Reports have emerged that a packet of surgical masks is being sold at Rs 1,000 in the market as the profiteers have bought the N-95 masks and stocked them up so that when an opportunity discloses, they will make a good fortune out of it.

A user on Twitter, requested Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) to provide N-95 masks to people free of cost, in a reply to which, another user claimed that the mask which was available for Rs 45 is now being sold for Rs 400.

According to scientific research, N-95 mask can protect oneself from the deadly coronavirus because the mask absorbs the germs and holds them from penetrating into human skin. Therefore, N-95 masks can definitely decrease the percentage of being affected by coronavirus.

Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health, Dr Zafar Mirza on Wednesday said on his Twitter handle, that two coronavirus cases have been detected in Pakistan. The first case of COVID-19 emerged in Karachi from a citizen who flew back from Iran along with his family.
