Hafiz Saeed Sentenced To 5 Years 6 Months Of Imprisonment For Assisting Terror Activities
LAHORE: Jamaat-ud-Daawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Mohammad Saeed has on Wednesday been sentenced to five years in prison by an anti-terror court in Lahore.

The JuD chief has been convicted of raising funds and doing money-laundering to assist terror activities. He’s been sentenced to five and a half years in prison in two cases combined.

The government of Pakistan had filed 23 cases against 13 people in July 2019. Hafiz Saeed had been nominated in 11 out of the total 13.

He had been accused of making five different organisations that were directly funding terrorist activities. These included Dawat wal Irshad, Moaz bin Jabl Trust, Al-Anfaal Trust, Al-Hamd Trust and Al-Madina Foundation.

It is pertinent to mention here that one of the major requirements mentioned in the FATF list was action against organisations and people involved in terror activities.
