A special conference has been called at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi where senior military leadership is currently holding consultations. The meeting is being held in the wake of a special court's decision awarding death sentence to former president Gen Rtd Pervez Musharraf.
The special bench hearing this case consisted of Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Waqar Seth, Sindh High Court Justice Nazar Akbar and Lahore High Court Justice Shahid Karim.
The government’s case was being presented by Advocate Ali Zia Bajwa.
Bajwa had urged the bench to change the verdict but the court refused to do so. He then added that Musharraf’s Prime Ministers should also be tried as aiders and abettors and given the same treatment as him. The bench gave the prosecution two weeks to come up with a new charge sheet.
