Kashmiris Watch Turkish TV Show Dirilis Ertugrul Despite Internet Blockade

Watching Diriliş: Ertuğrul has become a popular past time in Occupied Kashmir ever since the internet shutdown was enforced four months ago.

Diriliş: Ertuğrul is a Turkish version of Game of Thrones that focuses on Muslim Oghuz Turks. The show has been immensely popular globally.

Because of the internet shut down, access to the show in the valley has been through flash drives. People get the show if they go out of the valley or through people who travel in an out of the valley. Cable operators in the valley are not allowed to show programs from Pakistan, Turkey and Iran among other countries.

The show has become a major source of public discussion and entertainment at a very dark and troubling time.
