Abbasi also tweeted later that all three were safe and had only been ‘asked to deactivate their twitter accounts’. However, he did not disclose who exactly had ‘asked’ the three journalists to deactivate the accounts.

Wajih Sani however returned to Twitter shortly after announcing a break. But Azaz Syed and Umar Cheema’s accounts still remain deactivated.

It is being speculated that the three journalists had been forced to deactivate their accounts by their employer.

Naya Daur tried to reach Azaz Syed but the latter was not available for comment.
