Lahore Attack Martyr: Security Guard Rafaqat Ali Was Family’s Sole Bread Earner, With Monthly Pay of Rs8000 Not Paid for Months
LAHORE: Rafaqat Ali, one of the martyrs in Wednesday’s suicide attack outside Data Darbar, was the sole bread earner for his family.

An employee of a private security company, Rafaqat struggled to stay above the poverty line and feed his family – a wife and three little daughters. He lived in a one-bedroom house whose walls are in dire need of repair, reported Geo News.

As Rafaqat’s body reached his home, the air was filled with sorrow. His wife complained that her husband, who only made Rs8,000 per month, had not been paid in four months.

“He was the one earning and he has gone now. There is no one to support the children,” his wife said while struggling to hold back her tears.

The neighbours were critical of the fact that no government functionary attended the funeral of Rafaqat, but they should at least ensure financial assistance for the bereaved and shocked family.

Meanwhile, the death toll from the deadly terror attack has reached 11, as another police official succumbed to his injuries today (Thursday).

Saddam Hussain, a resident of Kasur, breathed his last at the Mayo Hospital.

Around 26 others are being treated for their injuries, two of whom are stated to be in a critical condition.
