A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against 16 Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) officials over an ‘encounter’ that killed 4 in total and 3 of one family, including a teenage girl.
The CTD officials on Saturday claimed to have killed 4 members of a militant organization in an alleged encounter.
They also claimed that the killed individuals had fired at them, while explosives were also recovered from their vehicle.
Eyewitnesses, however, disputed the claim and said the people in the car did not fire at officials, nor were any explosives recovered from the vehicle.
Jaleel Ahmed, brother of Khaleel Ahmed who was among the ones killed, filed a complaint against the officers after which 16 CTD officers were booked. Residents of the area also took to roads and protested against the ‘encounter’.
The FIR was lodged under section 302 (premeditated murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code along with section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997.
