Provincial health minister for Punjab Dr. Yasmin Rashid spoke to the media in Lahore, stating that 78 people tested positive for Covid-19 in the province. She further noted that all who tested positive had “arrived from abroad”.
In her remarks to media, Dr. Rashid said that of the 78 who tested positive for the virus, 60 had been pilgrims returning from abroad.
With regards to preparations for dealing with potential patients, Dr. Rashid said that the province had at its disposal 500 rooms for isolation purposes. She also mentioned measures to reduce public activity in an effort to control the spread of the contagious disease. These include the closure of educational institutions including colleges, universities and madrassahs. Moreover, public places including shopping malls would have to close by 10 pm.
