The Lahore High Court (LHC) issued a temporary order banning government officials and politicians from using treasury funds for personal expenses, even if it's just a cup of tea.
According to a report in Dawn News, the interim order was issued by Justice Aminuddin Khan in response to a petition filed by the Lawyer's Foundation for Justice.
Politicians and government officials are the trustees of the treasury, and cannot use it for their personal matters and the founder of the nation, Quaid-i-Azam, had ordered that no tea be served during official meetings, the petition stated.
In a hearing on Friday, Justice Aminuddin issued a temporary stay on the use of public funds for personal reasons by government officials until the next hearing on May 23. Notices were issued to the government and other respondents to the petition.
