ISLAMABAD: The Imran Khan-led federal government has decided to form an Economic Security Council (ESC) to tackle the country's ongoing economic downturn according to a private TV channel.
As per sources, the council in question will comprise of civilian and military leadership. In order to find further information about the said council, when Daily Jang tried to inquire from government sources including Abdul Hafeez Sheikh and finance ministry spokesperson, they were unable to get a reply from the said sources.
The Economic Security Council is set to oversee economic policies and international agreements. It will be headed by the Prime Minister himself and will comprise of Chief of Army Staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, finance secretary while three more members are to be added.
