Federal Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed has said that the designs of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) were 'dangerous', adding that the rioters wanted to come to the Faizabad interchange for the fourth time. He expressed these views while addressing a press conference on Thursday.
The interior minister was flanked by Religious Affairs Minister Noorul Haq Qadri. He added that the government decided to ban the extremist group due to its involvement in violence in the country in the past three days.
A notification declaring TLP a banned outfit was issued following Rasheed's press conference.
The minister said that the government was ready to present the TLP's demands in the parliament in the form of a resolution, but the group still resorted to violence. Rasheed also paid tribute to the police officials who embraced martyrdom and were injured in clashes with the TLP rioters.
