‘Imran Khan Not The First Honest PM’, Clarifies Attorney General
Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) Khalid Jawed Khan has clarified that he did not term Prime Minister Imran Khan as the ‘first honest premier’ in the country’s history during the hearing of Supreme Court (SC)’s suo motu case on the federal government’s measures to combat the pandemic.

The AGP Office on Monday issued a clarification to Geo News, saying that the channel misquoted Khalid Khan. “Your channel attributed a wrong statement to AGP that during the proceedings in SC in suo motu case, the AGP said that ‘PM Imran is the first honest prime minister of Paksitan’. What was said by AGP in response to a court observation was that ‘PM Imran is the honest man and government is making sincere efforts to combat the pandemic,” the clarification noted.

The AGP office noted that the statement of Khalid Khan ‘by no means’ defamed the previous primers of the country, including Liaquat Ali Khan. “As elected leaders of the people all prime ministers are entitled to esteem and respect.”

On Monday, it was reported by various mainstream news outlets that AGP Khalid during the proceedings of the aforementioned case in SC said that Pakistan was being rule by an honest premier 'for the very first time' in response to the remarks of Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed. “Prime Minister Imran Khan’s cabinet has become ineffective. I am sorry to say this but the premier has distanced himself [from the coronavirus crisis],” the top judge noted.
