Punjab chief minister's aide Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has joined the group of celebrities who did not like the new PSL anthem ‘Groove Mera’ featuring Naseebo Lal and Aima Baig.
The special assistant to CM said that Naseebo Lal is a renowned singer and should’ve been presented as the voice of the nation with a good, worthy song. “Naseebo Lal is our 'laal' [beloved] and Lal should have been presented like a jewel and voice of the nation. It definitely does not match the level of PSL, of course. You have international cricket players and our game is of international standards. I would like to add that the song is great for domestic cricket tournaments.”
Awan further said that the song doesn’t has that “kick” and should’ve been tweaked till it became perfect.
Besides Firdaus Awan, former cricketer Shoaib Akhtar had also criticised the song.
Groove Mera did not become a public hit as a portion of the public did not like it and said it didn’t feel “PSL enough”, but the majority on social media loved the song and termed it a true representation of Pakistan’s local culture.
