Pakistan Muslim League - N (PML-N) supreme leader Nawaz Sharif has said that the government tried to prevent the PDM Lahore rally but the citizens thwarted these attempts and made the jalsa a success.
Addressing the PDM rally in Lahore, he said that the country made significant progress under his prime ministership and he never compromised on Pakistan’s sovereignty as PM.
Nawaz Sharif reiterated his stance against the establishment’s alleged interference in politics. “You arrest the PM and violate the constitution, should I then name the Agriculture Department,” Nawaz Sharif said in reference to his criticism of the military leadership. He said that the soldiers of the Pakistan Army are sacrificing their lives for the motherland and are away from the ‘game’ being played by the establishment. Sharif added that the country can no longer afford such onslaughts on democracy.
He said the respect for vote has to be established. “Should we become slaves to a few generals after getting freedom from Britishers,” he asked.
Further, Nawaz Sharif said that PMLN MPs have begun submitting their resignations and they are firmly standing by the party, adding that his party will follow the directions of PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
Nawaz Sharif also said that the country will move forward if the masses stand by the PDM.
