Lakki Marwat
A prominent Shia leader was murdered in Lakki Marwat on Wednesday night.
According to a report in Dawn, the Shia leader, Syed Zahoor Abbas Shah Afgar Bukhari was in his hujra in Mohallah Sayyedan when he was shot to death by an unknown man after Isha prayers.
Bukhari’s body was brought to the Government City Hospital for autopsy, where a large number of his followers were present. Meanwhile, police arrived at the scene of the murder to collect evidence.
Moreover, relatives and followers of the Shia leader held a protest against the murder. They stated that Bukhari was a lover of peace and a symbol of religious harmony while demanding the arrest of the killer.
Lakki Marwat Deputy Commissioner Jahangir Azam Wazir along with the district police officer met with the protestors and assured them of the arrest of the killers. The officials also asked Shia community leaders to cooperate with law enforcement authorities.
Bukhari was also a known poet of the Pashto language and was famous for his romantic poetry.
