NAB Amendments Case: Justice Minallah’s Remarks Are Political In Nature, Says Mubasher Bukhari

Some judges have a penchant for activism, and some of the current judges have also been part of the same club that has offered to mediate between Imran Khan and his opponents in the past. Justice Athar Minallah’s remarks regarding Imran Khan in the NAB Amendments case are political in nature and not legal.

This was stated by senior journalist Mubasher Bukhari while speaking on Naya Daur TV's talk show “Khabar Se Aagay.

During the program, legal expert Asad Jamal said that the judiciary can strike down the legislation of the Parliament that is in conflict with fundamental rights. The grounds on which the three-judge bench headed by Justice Bandial invalidated the amendments made by the Parliament in the NAB Ordinance were very weak. The Supreme Court has given very sound advice to Imran Khan that he should talk to his political rivals.

On the other hand, reporter Syed Sabih Ul Hasnain said that during the hearing of the NAB Amendments case, Justice Athar Manullah said to Imran Khan that it is unfortunate that you have so many followers and you are in jail. The judge also expressed hope that he would be seen in Parliament very soon. The emphasis of the five-member bench was that if the country's situation is as bad as Imran Khan is telling, then he should sit and talk with the rest of the politicians and get the country out of trouble.
