Police raided a farmhouse owned by an Ahmadi man in Subhan Shah Debalpur, Okara, on the evening of Wednesday. The police operation, conducted under the supervision of the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), involved the vandalization of minarets and the removal of sacred inscriptions from the Ahmadiyya place of worship.
According to reports, two police vehicles from the Depalpur Police Station arrived at the site around 6:30 p.m. During the raid, the police personnel destroyed the minarets and removed sacred inscriptions from the place of worship. The worship place, which had been established prior to 1984, was specifically targeted despite legal protections.
The Lahore High Court's ruling on the case of Imran Hameed Vs State (Crl. Misc. No. 5151/B/2023), delivered by Honourable Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh, clearly stipulates that structures of Ahmadiyya worship places built before 1984 are exempt from modifications.
The incident has sparked significant concern and condemnation from various human rights organizations and legal experts, who are calling for an immediate investigation into the police conduct and a review of the adherence to court rulings concerning religious sites.
