The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has claimed the responsibility for Friday evening’s blast at a mosque in Quetta.
A blast in Satellite Town area of the Balochistan provincial capital on Friday evening took the lives of 15 people, including a deputy superintendent of police, Amanullah, and the mosque’s imam.
A spokesperson for the Balochistan governor has confirmed to media that the blast was a result of a suicide bombing.
According to reports on social media, the bombing has been claimed by the ISIS, with the target being the Taliban. A user shared a screenshot from the terror group’s website, saying that the attack had been carried out by an ISIS member Abu Jarrah Al-Balochi.

A news report in Dawn has stated that police were currently trying to gauge whether the attack had been carried out by the same group that had killed DSP Amanullah’s son a month back.
Meanwhile, the incident has received condemnation from Prime Minister Imran Khan, Leader of the Opposition Shahbaz Sharif, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, and JUI-F Chief Fazlur Rehman.
