Pakistani director, Sharmeen Obaid Chinnoy, won three awards for her film 'Sitara' at the Lost Angeles Animation Festival.
Her latest film talks about the issue of child marriage. The main character, Pari, is a 14 year old girl who wants to be a pilot but cannot be so because of her parent's decision to marry her off.
The film has been taken up by Netflix and will be released on the streaming service in 2020.
In talking to the publication Variety, Chinnoy looked back on the production of the film and said that they had to start from scratch as they knew nothing about animation and were working with old machines that. According to her, this project was truly a struggle.
Before this the director has twice won an Oscar and has been the first Pakistani to do so.
