KP Minister Sends BRT Travel Card To Bilawal, Offers Ride

After Pakistan People'sParty (PPP) Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari critcised the delay in the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Transport Minister Shah Mohammad Wazir sent him a 'BRT travel card to journey around' in the BRT.

According to Geo News, the transport minister asked the PPP chief to come to Peshawar so he could take him on 'tour of the BRT'.

"I will take him on a tour of the BRT, show him our hospitality, and also show him that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has made the BRT for its people," the provincial minister commented.

The minister claimed that the opposition was jealous that the BRT had been completed and now they couldn't digest the KP government's success. The much-touted project was set to be completed in June 2021 but 'we have done it one year before plan', he boasted.

"The BRT project is ready; as soon as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister [Mahmood Khan] gives the green signal, it will be inaugurated," he added. Started in Oct 2017, the project was supposed to complete within six months at cost of Rs49 billion. However, two years later, the cost has ballooned toRs71bn and it has yet to start operations.

The KP minister also took a jibe at the government of Sindh, saying he hoped the PPP leadership would also send him a travel card for the Green Bus project.
