ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) in a fresh move terminated six serving employees from services immediately after their educational documents were found bogus, senior official of the department confirmed to Naya Daur.
CDA has imposed the major penalty i.e. removal from service on six officials serving in different grades on account of possessing fake educational testimonials. Human Resource Development Directorate has issued formal office order and action against these officials has been taken in the light Regulation 8.04(1)(b)(iii) of CDA Employees Service Regulation 1992.
“Process of degree verification of non-gazette and gazette officers/officials was pending since long. However, incumbent management during the end of last month directed the concerned formations to expedite the progress and to resolve various pending issues particularly pending process of degree verification and reports in this context be submitted at the earliest. In this regard, a committee comprising Director Human Resource and Director Coordination was also formulated to expedite and conclude such degree verification cases”, the official presser added.
The notification further added that upon receiving reports from concerned departments regarding fake degrees possessed by the six officials action was taken under the rules. These officials were served show cause notices while opportunity of personal hearing was also granted which was availed by the officials but they failed to prove authenticity of their documents.
Moreover, another official who has retired from service – his pension was fixed at initial stage of BS-05 and extra benefits availed during posting in BS-11 – will have to return the amount to the department. The officials have right of appeal as admissible under Regulation 20.01 of CDA Employees (Service) Regulation 1992.
After fake degree holders identified in Pakistan International Airline (PIA), all departments had started degree verifications, including CDA, but top officials’ degrees are still pending with Higher Education Commission (HEC) in verification process.
When asked why the names of the accused officers haven’t been mentioned in the notification, the spokesperson didn’t respond despite repeated attempts.
