Naqeebullah Mehsud’s father, Muhammad Khan, lost his battle to cancer on Monday morning while waiting for justice that had been promised to him by the chief of army staff and the chief justice.
The deceased was the only one fighting for justice for his son who was killed in an encounter by Karachi’s notorious police officer Rao Anwar in January 2018 in Karachi.
Naqeebullah Mehsud’s father had sought justice from the chief of army staff, the chief justice, and the prime minister for his son.
In an interview at Dawn’s Zara Hat Kay in January of this year, Muhammad Khan had revealed that Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa had come to him and had promised him justice.
He said that the COAS himself came to his house and had said that he alone would strive for justice for his son.
Muhammad Khan said that he asked him if that was a promise, and the army chief replied in the affirmative.

Naqeeb’s father added that this promise was not with him, but with the 220 million people of the country.
He further asked if there was anyone bigger than the COAS, the chief justice, or the prime minister, adding that all three had promised him justice for his son.
