PML-N Punjab president MNA Rana Sanaullah Khan, who arrested yesterday (Monday) on charges of transporting drugs, has been sent to jail on 14-day judicial remand by a local court in Lahore.
Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) officials presented the PML-N leader and five others — Akram, Omer Farooq, Amir Rustam, Usman Ahmed and Sibtain Khan — before a judicial magistrate Ahmad Waqas. The ANF claimed that they arrested the lawmaker on the basis of information.
Later, Rana Sana was shifted to the Camp Jail, where he will get B-Class.
Meanwhile, Rana Sana, on the occasion, told media persons that the drugs case against him was injustice, and injustice could not sustain for long, adding that “he”, who was talking about the state of Madina, should feel ashamed [because of his actions].
Talking to media, the PML-N leader’s lawyer said it was a political case and his client had been sent on judicial remand because of the ambiguous stance on the part of ANF. They were supposed to issue a statement about the details Monday but they couldn’t, he said.
Meanwhile, the party workers greeted Rana Sana with the chants of “lion has arrived” (sher aya, sher aya) on his arrival in the courtroom.
And in Punjab Assembly, a resolution was tabled by PML-N leader Azma Bokhari, which read that Rana Sana’s arrest was a slap in the face of so-called ‘democratic’ government of PTI.
The government has failed to provide evidence against the former Punjab law minister who unveiled the real face of its federal ministers, it added.
The resolution said Rana Sana fearlessly fought against the dictatorship of Pervez Musharraf, adding that “this House strongly condemned his detention”.
“The whole nation is watching the revengeful actions of the ‘selected’ prime minister against PML-N, the resolution said.
