A 16-year-old girl has killed her 36-year-old husband in Uch Sharif district of Punjab after the girl's parents married her to the said person without her consent.
According to ARY News, police have arrested the young bride who admitted to giving her husband, identified as Siddique, a poisonous drink that led to his death. The girl, Samreen, was married to Siddique as part of the watta-satta practice.
The report said that Samreen took this step after she was annoyed with the 'exchange marriage'. The police have shifted the body to a hospital for medico-legal formalities and would initiate legal action in the case after receiving the post-mortem report.
In a somewhat similar case, a woman allegedly killed her husband just 20 days after their marriage with the help of two accomplices in Khairpur.
