Dadu: A jirga (village council) has ordered the SHO of Mahar police station and seven other junior police officers to pay a fine/compensation of Rs3.2 million for killing a woman.
According to Dawn, the woman was injured when the police party opened fire to disperse enraged villagers who were resisting the police's raid on her house while looking for a suspected criminal in the village 40 days ago. She was given medical assistance and remained under treatment at the hospital, but succumbed to her injuries at a Karachi hospital.
The deceased's family lodged a murder case against the police party and also approached their tribal chief to seek justice.
