A newly-wed woman was allegedly tortured to death by her in-laws in the Walton Road area.
According to a report in Dawn, an FIR lodged by the victim’s brother stated that she was tortured by her husband and family members for unknown reasons.
The victim’s brother stated that his sister, Sawera, married Asif Jan of Shama Colony. When him and his family visited Jan’s house the next morning, they found her being taken to the hospital in an ambulance by her in-laws.
When the family reached the hospital, doctors refused to attend to her, saying that it was a police case owing to bruises on different parts of her body. They further told the families that Sawera had already died. The victim was later rushed to a government hospital where medics confirmed her death.
Police have shifted the body to the morgue for an autopsy and have started an investigation into the allegations after registering a case against Sawera’s in-laws.
