Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Wednesday accused India of escalating its proxy war against Pakistan following its defeat in Marka-E-Haq—the 19-day military conflict fought between April 22 and May 10 this year.
Speaking at the 16th National Workshop in Balochistan, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) condemned what he described as India’s continued sponsorship of terrorist proxies as a failed attempt to weaken the patriotism of the Baloch people. He described India’s use of groups like Fitna-al-Khawarij and Fitna-al-Hindustan as part of an ongoing hybrid war strategy.
“These proxies,” he declared, “will meet the same fate and humiliation as they did in Marka-e-Haq.”
Addressing a diverse audience of parliamentarians, civil servants, academics, media professionals, civil society, and youth, the COAS stressed that terrorism transcends religious, sectarian, and ethnic lines and must be met with a unified national response.
He reaffirmed the Pakistan Army’s commitment to eradicating terrorism and ensuring the socio-economic uplift of Balochistan, which he called essential for national cohesion. Emphasising regional peace, Field Marshal Munir also pledged that Pakistan would decisively respond to all internal and external threats.
His remarks follow the 271st Corps Commanders’ Conference, where the military leadership vowed to take comprehensive actions against Indian-backed proxies.
Field Marshal Munir also called for stronger inter-agency coordination and a cohesive national approach to accelerate development in Balochistan, underscoring the importance of governance, infrastructure, and unity.
The session concluded with an interactive dialogue between the participants and the army chief, who reiterated that Pakistan’s future lies in collective resolve and steadfast national integrity.
