KARACHI: A local judge on Tuesday confirmed the bail of senior journalist Shahzeb Jillani in the cyber case registered by FIA.
District and Sessions Judge Imdad Hussain Khoso passed the orders after hearing the matter.
His bail was earlier extended twice as a case was registered and inquiry against him after a citizen Maulvi Iqbal Haider filed a complaint, accusing him of defaming security institutions.
The decision to confirm his bail was appreciated on social media.

Meanwhile, the increasing trend of curbs on media and freedom of expression as well as insulting and organised campaign against journalists is being criticised by civil society and social activists.
“Last week, a vile social media campaign was launched against journalists @marvisirmed, @HamidMirPAK, @arshad_Geo among others. @omerazhar96 says such steps are not a reflection of a progressive and free society.”
