Recently released Pakistani feature film, Talash, focusing on malnutrition and stunting’s detrimental effects on children, was screened at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
The screening was arranged by UN staff Recreation Pakistan Club as part of the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
The film tells the story of three medical students sent to a remote village in Tharparkar, where they have to face challenges in fulfilling their professional duties due to the feudal setup.
The director of the film, Zeeshan Khan, while speaking at the screening expressed his tanks to the organisers for enabling the screening of a Pakistani film before an international audience.
The chief guest at the screening was Pakistan's Ambassador to the UN, Munir Akram, who reminded the audience how Prime Minister Imran khan had pledged to reduce child stunting and improve maternal health.
He apprised the audience that various projects had been launched in Pakistan to eliminate hunger and malnutrition.
